With warmer weather, Valley residents might be in for an early scorpion season.

Brian Kuhn with Banner Health Poison Control Center says the small creatures tend to enter homes in pursuit of food.

As a result, people may now need to close any open gaps in their home to avoid them crawling in.

“Certainly with the warmer weather we’ve had these past few weeks we’re certainly seeing an uptick, nothing stark, nothing that’s worrisome," he said.

Kuhn advises those who fall victim to a scorpion sting to wash the injured area with soap and water. More severe symptoms, however, will likely require usage of anti-venom.
