Evacuations were ordered Monday for the St. John’s community in eastern Arizona. A brush fire that started in the morning prompted the orders.
The Apache County community was put under fire evacuation status “GO” around 1 p.m., meaning that residents were to leave the area immediately.
These orders were for all areas located around Water Street. Residents in the affected areas have been directed to shelters or to stay with family and friends outside of the evacuated area.
The Water Fire has burned 62 acres, according to the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management.
More information about evacuations can be found on the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management app.
