The Arizona Department of Transportation closed portions of various highways in the northern part of the state due to winter weather on Friday afternoon.
ADOT also reported vehicle slide-offs on the affected roads:
- State Route 89A, both directions between mileposts 379-397
- I-40 eastbound at US 93 (milepost 71) and SR89A near Ash Fork (milepost 146)

Earlier Friday, ADOT closed parts of Interstate 17, but they were reopened in the late afternoon.
The agency encouraged motorists to delay travel plans until the storm passes.
The National Weather Service in Flagstaff said rain and snow showers were predicted to continue throughout Friday in the high country and taper off early Saturday.

The Weather Service said metro Phoenix could continue to see rain with wind gusts into Friday evening.
