Arizona currently sits in the top 10 states for gas prices in the nation, averaging about 16 cents higher than the national average.
On Friday, the average price at the pump averages at $3.42 a gallon, 9 cents up from last week.
AAA spokesperson Julian Parades says the rising prices are normal for this time of year due to several factors such as refinery maintenance.
“This is part of the seasonality. You know, a lot of people have their spring break travel plans happening right now so there’s definitely more demand for gas all around across the country. We’re also making the switch to the summer blend of gasoline, which is a little bit more expensive,” said Parades.
Parades says around summer time demand is at its highest, meaning it’s likely Arizona will continue to see a gradual climb in prices until Memorial Day.
