KJZZ wins regional Edward R. Murrow Award for coverage in 2024

KJZZ has won a regional Edward R. Murrow Award for large market radio news coverage in 2024.

The announcement was made Wednesday by the Radio Television Digital News Association.

KJZZ senior field correspondent Alisa Reznick won Region 3's Hard News category for her December reporting on immigrant families preparing for deportations under the incoming Trump administration.

Signs are stacked at the Keep Tucson Together office that residencies and businesses can post in their windows. Mercado says the tactic has helped protect families in the past.
In the weeks since the election, Trump has alternated between asserting he’d target immigrants with criminal histories and protect DACA, to saying U.S. citizen children could even be deported alongside their family members.

Senior digital editor Sky Schaudt joined KJZZ in 2015. Prior to working at KJZZ, Schaudt was a digital news editor at azcentral.com for nearly a decade.
