Federal officials recently signed off on environmental approvals for a new connector road planned to go near a commercial port of entry near Douglas.
It would be built less than 5 miles west of the existing Raul Hector Castro commercial Port of Entry. And it’s part of a broader push to ease truck traffic downtown and boost cross-border trade with Mexico.
This latest approval marks the last hurdle the project needs to clear under federal law. Now, that sets a mid-October deadline for any legal challenges.
