Arizona gets a weekend relief from triple digit temperatures after reaching 104 degrees Fahrenheit on Friday. A Valley meteorologist says this change in pressure systems is only a small break before the extreme heat stays.
A low pressure system is the reason for the lower temperatures.
“We are seeing a really weak area of low pressure that is actually moving to our north,” Phoenix Meteorologist Gabriel Lojero said. “So that’s weakened the high pressure system that’s been over us the past couple of days.”
He says semi-permanent triple digits will most likely come at the beginning of June and last throughout summer. The high 90s are normal for this time of year.
“Nothing too unusual for temperatures for the holiday weekend and sunny skies and dry conditions,” Lojero said.
While Arizona is not seeing 100 degrees this weekend, Lojero advised outdoor activities to be done early in the morning and staying hydrated throughout the day.
