The Arizona Humane Society is waiving the adoption fees for all adoptable animals on Saturday, June 7 — including puppies and kittens.
In a press release Thursday afternoon, the Humane Society said it's currently caring for about 2,000 animals in its shelters and foster homes. It also expects to take in 24,000 animals this year — a 10% increase over 2024, the release said.
“We're averaging about 400 to 500 owners' surrender applications through our animal assistance program a month. So that just kind of shows the scale of how many people out there are looking to rehome their pet,” Kelsey Dickerson, a spokesperson for the Humane Society, told KJZZ earlier this year.
The $0 event coincides with National Best Friend Day.
