Valley Metro is increasing its light rail and streetcar services beginning Saturday, which coincides with the launch of the latest two-line light rail system.
Valley Metro says light rail trains will arrive every 12 minutes until 7 p.m. on weekdays. The agency also says the expedited process ensures a “timely transfer” of people going from one rail line to the next. In Tempe, the streetcar will arrive every 15 minutes.
The new South Central Extension connects people to south Phoenix by operating from the downtown area to Baseline Road. Its implementation seeks to address the public with limited or no access to vehicles.
Valley Metro says the expansion will add more than 8,000 daily riders to the rail system.
