The Maricopa Association of Governments works with community partners in setting up the heat relief network that includes cooling centers.
Each year, MAG coordinates with these partners and gathers data on visitors to the sites and location operations, in part to keep an updated map available to the public online.
Cleo Warner is senior planner at MAG.
“We definitely encourage people to get to know the heat relief sites that are operating in their area and seeing what their needs are so that they can step into support if they have capacity to do so,” she said.
Warner says MAG works to ensure there are no geographic gaps in the heat relief network.
