Phoenix fire crews had a very busy Monday in the sizzling triple-digit heat rescuing hikers.

Crews were dispatched Monday morning for reports of multiple hikers experiencing heat related injuries on Camelback Mountain.

A total of four people had to be taken off the mountain with firefighter assistance. Three were flown off on the Phoenix Police Department helicopter and one was carried down utilizing the big wheel stretcher. Two patients were transported to the hospital, another two refused to go.

Fire crews came off the mountain safely and no injuries were reported. Crews were also out Sunday where they rescued hikers off Cholla Trail. On days when the Weather Service issues an extreme heat warning, hiking on Camelback is restricted.
