The Bureau of Land Management wants public feedback on Buckeye’s request to lease hundreds of acres to expand a regional park.
The proposal by Buckeye would expand Skyline Regional Park with a lease of 640 acres of public land under federal law. The park is already an 8,700 acre preserve located in the White Tank Mountains, which mark the western edge of metro Phoenix.
Federal officials say Buckeye wants to build and maintain two new public trailheads on the north and south sides of the park.
The BLM's environmental assessment of the city’s proposal is available online for public comment through July 28.
