The Phoenix City Council has approved eight legal settlements totaling roughly $1.6 million.
Most of the payouts stem from complaints related to water main breaks.
Some were made by companies that worked on fixing breaks, and at least one complaint alleged property damage.
The other settlements were over traffic accident claims, including one involving the Phoenix Police Department.
