According to the Arizona Beef Council, more than 7,000 Arizona farms and ranches raise cattle.

The Arizona Department of Agriculture says it has detected avian flu in milk produced by cattle in Maricopa County.

So far, the cattle haven’t shown signs of illness with this particular genotype, which is not likely to infect humans.

The risk to the general public remains low, but people in close contact with dairy cattle may be at increased risk.

The facility has been quarantined as a protective measure.
