The Phoenix Fire Department has sent a rescue team to help support flood response in Texas. More than 160 people were still unaccounted for as of Wednesday morning.
Phoenix Fire’s Arizona Task Force 1 is a 48-member FEMA urban search-and-rescue team managed by the department's special operations unit.
The crew deployed to Texas on Tuesday night and will be working under the direction of FEMA’s Incident Support Team.
According to Phoenix Fire, the group will work to help locate any remaining flood victims.
More than 100 bodies have been recovered so far.
Crews on the ground in Texas Hill Country have been using backhoes and their bare hands to dig through piles of debris that stretch for miles in search of the missing.
In Kerr County, Texas, Thad Heartfield is leading nearly 100 volunteers searching for flood victims. For him, this mission is personal. His son and three of his son's friends disappeared in the flood.
