Parts of metro Phoenix got a little rain overnight, and the National Weather Service reported some scattered showers and lightning in central Arizona on Wednesday morning.
At least 0.31 inches was recorded near New River in north Maricopa County, according to data from the county’s Flood Control District. About 0.08 inches fell in parts of the West Valley and near South Mountain in Phoenix early Wednesday.
Paige Konieczny with the National Weather Service in Flagstaff says forecasts for rain in the Valley will continue through Friday.
"As we get to about Wednesday is when it looks like more of the Phoenix metro area could start to join in on the excitement for some monsoon activity," said Konieczny.
High temperatures will continue to dominate the forecast in metro Phoenix with highs near 105 through Sunday.
The rest of the state is also expected to see rain. Northern and eastern parts of Arizona had monsoon activity earlier this week.
