A Maryvale High School student has died, according to the state superintendent, after they were stabbed Tuesday on campus in west Phoenix.
Authorities have not yet identified the student or a motive to kill them.
Phoenix police said officers responded to a stabbing call around 11 a.m. at Maryvale High School near 59th Avenue and Osborn Road. Two people were taken to a hospital, one with life-threatening injuries.
Phoenix City Councilwoman Betty Guardado called the violent incident at a school in her district heartbreaking and deeply disturbing.
Superintendent Tom Horne said a police officer assigned to campus immediately went to where the stabbing occurred and gave aid to the student who died.
