In 2024, antisemitic incidents in the United States rose for the fourth consecutive year, reaching 9,354 total incidents — the highest level ever recorded in the 46-year history of ADL's Audit of Antisemitic Incidents.
The Anti-Defamation League identified 122 antisemitic incidents in Arizona last year. That’s down from 163 incidents in 2023.
In a new report, the ADL ranks states on how they fight antisemitism, educate the public about the Jewish experience, and protect those communities. Appearing on PBS Arizona Horizon, Sarah Kader with the ADL Desert Region says the state is on the right track.
“One gap that we see in terms of fighting antisemitism, is a taskforce at the state government to combat antisemitism, so that’s something we’re hoping Arizona will create," Kader said.
Kader says the rise in divisive political rhetoric and anti-Jewish social media posts are, in part, to blame for the rise in antisemitism across the country.
According to the report, the ADL Audit of Antisemitic Incidents is comprised of both criminal and non-criminal incidents of harassment, vandalism and assault against individuals and groups as reported to ADL by victims, law enforcement, the media and partner organizations.
