Law enforcement are now saying the shooting of two residents at a Sun City West long-term care facility was a murder-suicide.
Maricopa County sheriff's deputies found two people shot at Grandview Terrace on Monday, including an 80-year-old woman, who was killed. The suspected shooter, an 81-year-old man, was taken to a nearby hospital and later died.
Authorities have not confirmed their relation, but public records indicate they were married, and the husband purchased a condominium at Grandview Terrace in 2024. Officials from Sun Health Communities, which operates Grandview Terrace, said they are fully cooperating with the law enforcement investigation and the community is secure.
Grandview Terrace offers independent, assisted living, memory care and skilled nursing living options.
