More than 200 flights were delayed at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport due to weather conditions and low clouds as of the early afternoon Monday. Earlier in the day, that number was over 300.
According to the FAA’s website, the delay is averaging around 50 minutes. No flights have been diverted or canceled yet.
Most of the affected flights are operated by Southwest Airlines.
On Saturday, the National Weather Service says 0.7 inches of rain fell at Sky Harbor Airport. The previous rainfall record for Oct. 11 was set nearly a century ago, at 0.3 inches.
“Most areas got anywhere between a quarter to three-quarters of an inch of rainfall with some areas — isolated areas — over an inch of rain," said Gabriel Lojero, a NWS meteorologist.
In eastern Arizona, flash flooding and rain hit Globe and Miami again on Sunday. The weather conditions caused closures in both directions of the U.S. 60 in the area. The newest floods come after residents faced similar conditions back less than three weeks ago.
