The Phoenix Zoo is extending its closure by one more day following Monday’s destructive microburst, which downed trees and left mud and debris in its wake.

The damage is estimated to have cost $300,000, which includes loss of revenue during the closure.

A spokesperson said that significant progress has been made, but to ensure that heavy machinery has been cleared from Zoo grounds the plan is to reopen Friday.

Details about the Storm Recovery Fund can be found at phoenixzoo.org/support/storm-damage-recovery-fund/.
