Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell says she was told Arizona will continue carrying out the death penalty following last week’s execution of quadruple murderer Richard Djerf.
But in a press conference on Wednesday, she refused to speculate which death row inmate might be next.
"Djerf was kind of an obvious choice because he had killed four people in such brutal fashion. But there are a number of people on death row who have killed more than one individual," said Mitchell.
Djerf died by lethal injection in Florence on Oct. 17.
His death marked the second execution carried out by the state of Arizona this year.
A man convicted of killing four members of a Phoenix family over 30 years ago in an act of revenge over stolen goods was put to death Friday in Arizona’s second execution of the year.
