New details are emerging about a Phoenix man who allegedly walked into an elementary school and sexually assaulted a child this week.
The suspect, 25-year-old Abel Kai Gblah, is a convicted sex offender. Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell said he was on probation for similar crimes after a plea agreement.
“One of the things that I need to take a look at is what that police report says, how it was charged and then the process that they went through to get to the plea agreement that they got to," Mitchell said.
Mitchell wasn’t in office when the previous crimes occurred. Statements from Phoenix police and the Washington Elementary School District say the suspect walked in behind a student who was buzzed in at the main entrance.
The suspect has been booked into jail on multiple charges, including sexual assault and kidnapping.
