Officials from the Salt River Project are performing maintenance on the Western Canal in Tempe. The maintenance means the Western Canal will be closed until Dec. 20.
Both canal banks and pathways will be restricted during this time.
According to the city of Tempe, work done on the canal addresses storm-related damage, identifies critical areas for attention and protects the waterways.
For example, there is closed access to the canal area that stretches between Guadalupe Road to a part of the Ken McDonald golf course and curves.
More specific information on area closures can be found online through the city of Tempe website and social media.
