The city of Tempe is drafting ideas to address drink spiking. The Drink Spiking Education and Prevention Council Subcommittee is asking for input from the public on the issue.

The subcommittee will look into implementing an ordinance that would prevent the tampering of drinks.

According to the city, the subcommittee would study several aspects of the ordinance ranging from making drink spiking test kits available at bars and nights clubs to having venues provide drink lids or covers.

The city says the ordinance would be the first of its kind in Arizona if adopted.

An in-person meeting to discuss drink spiking will be held at the Tempe Public Library on Dec. 10. A community survey available in December will also be conducted to get feedback.
