A member of the Scottsdale Unified School District Governing Board hosted a party earlier this month that was shut down by police. There were reports of underage drinking and some state lawmakers are calling for the board member’s resignation.
Paradise Valley police say a small birthday party at Matthew Pittinsky’s house got out of control when hundreds of uninvited teenagers showed up.
Paradise Valley police Officer Jimmy Phan said word got out about the party on social media.
“Officers worked with the homeowners and contracted security staff to safely disperse the crowd and the juveniles left without further incident," Phan said. “So events like this underscore how quickly information spreads among teens, especially on social media and why it’s important for parents to stay aware of their child’s online activity and plan.”
Phan said the homeowner is the one who called for assistance and no alcohol was served at the party. One teen was taken to the hospital as a precaution, but it’s unclear if that was alcohol related.
