A Phoenix police officer faces charges of assault and other crimes in a newly unsealed indictment stemming from a serious vehicle accident in March.
The case against Officer Joshua Woodcock was submitted to prosecutors by Phoenix police after reviewing a late-night roll-over crash near Buckeye and Black Canyon Access roads.
Investigators found that Woodcock was on-duty driving in a Phoenix police vehicle more than 50 miles over the speed limit when he hit a left-turning vehicle.
A grand jury indicted Woodcock in October on charges of aggravated assault and endangerment. The indictment was unsealed this week.
Phoenix police say officers are expected to uphold the same laws they enforce.
