Pima County supervisors unanimously approved the sale of more than 400 acres of land to the National Park Service.
The 400 acres of vacant land in the sale lies adjacent to Saguaro National Park’s Tucson Mountain District.
There is no date set for the sale yet, but once completed, the land will be incorporated into the national park.
Kris Gade, director of Pima County Conservation Lands & Resources, said combining land from Tucson Mountain Park and Saguaro National Park will ensure continued conservation. And will help simplify management across the two parks.
Proceeds of the sale will provide Pima County with additional funding to support their Sonoran Desert conservation plans.
