Hundreds attended a protest vigil outside an ICE field office in downtown Phoenix on Jan. 7, 2026, in response to the killing of legal observer Renee Nicole Good by an ICE agent in Minneapolis.

A vigil was held Wednesday night outside of the Phoenix field office for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

The event was quickly organized as news spread that an ICE agent in Minnesota shot and killed a 37-year-old U.S. citizen named Renee Nicole Good.

In two press conferences about an hour apart, Minnesota's governor and the White House disagreed about the facts behind Wednesday's fatal ICE shooting in Minneapolis.

"We know this about Nicole. She was a mother. She was a daughter. She was a neighbor. She was a friend to the people of Minneapolis,” said Raquel Teran, a former state lawmaker.

A recent report by the Bulwark cites anonymous sourcing that Phoenix is likely to be ICE’s next enforcement focus.
