Strong wind gusts throughout the Valley can be attributed to a back-and-forth clash between high pressure traveling from the north and low pressure coming from the south, just over the Baja Peninsula.
National Weather Service meteorologist Ryan Worley said the general windiness, which has been a consistent feature over the last couple of days, is expected to subside after Monday.
“There could be some lingering gusts here and there, but nothing to major,” Worley said.
Temperatures in the Valley are projected to reach the mid- to upper 70s later in the week, which Worley said is well above what he would expect this time of year.
But not “too many people will be complaining about the middle to upper 70s in the middle of January," Worley said.
Temperatures in northern and central Arizona will be in the 40s and 50s most of the week, according to the Weather Service.
