One of the Diamondbacks star players will miss the start of the season.
Outfielder Corbin Carroll will undergo surgery after breaking a bone in his hand during batting practice on Tuesday. The injury was to his right hamate bone — near the wrist between the ring and pinky finger.
Carroll was set to play for Team USA in the World Baseball Classic, but will miss the international tournament due to the injury.
Carrol was the 2023 Rookie of the year. He is a two-time all-star and led the league in triples in 2025.
The Diamondbacks did not provide a timeline for his return, but the standard recovery time is 6-8 weeks.
