A former employee of a western Arizona town has been sentenced to three-and-a-half years in prison for fraud and theft.

Former Parker office specialist Jennifer Alcaida also has to pay back about $200,000 and serve seven years of probation.

Prosecutors say Alcaida made unauthorized checks to draw money from accounts belonging to the town of Parker, withheld cash she was supposed to deposit, and used a town-issued credit card to buy personal items.

Prosecutors also say Alcaida defrauded the COVID-era Paycheck Protection Program to claim money for employees of a business that did not exist.

Roughly $21,000 of the total restitution will go to the Small Business Administration.
