Another act of vandalism targeted a high-speed camera in Phoenix. This time, Phoenix police say the camera was damaged from both spray paint and gunfire.

The camera at 19th Avenue and Thunderbird Road was one in a network of devices reintroduced by the city to address drivers violating the speed limit.

Police Sgt. Lorraine Fernandez says that this kind of vandalism endangers the public.

“It’s extremely dangerous, and it does place significant risk to our community when someone decides for whatever reason to cause damage like that using a weapon," she said.

Fernandez asked those who witness vandalism of the speed cameras to contact police.
