The Arizona Department of Gaming has launched a public service announcement campaign to address problem gambling.

The department is highlighting a self-exclusion program that allows Arizona residents to ban themselves from gambling establishments, event wagering and fantasy sports.

The campaign, labeled Take Back the Game, features 30-second PSAs on TV, radio and the internet.

A Phoenix man named Jordan says the self-exclusion program has helped him.

“It's not a cure, but it's definitely a roadblock, an important one that you can put forward and I think the more people that learn about it the better. It's a terrible disease," he said.

Jordan also provides advice for those wanting to be involved with a self-exclusion program.

“I think early on the best thing to do is just set all the barriers you can and get involved with the programs that are out there," he said.

The Department of Gaming is also trying to raise awareness about illegal online casinos and underage gambling.
