The city of Tempe is holding another round of public meetings to update its special events and parks and recreation codes. The meetings will be held throughout April across Tempe.

According to the city, the codes were first established back in 1967 — and only minor updates have been made since. But given Tempe’s growth, revisions are needed due to the greater demand for space and usage of city parks.

Craig Hayton is Tempe’s community services director.

“Our goal overall is to provide clarity on the special events and the park side to support all activities that happen within our parks," Hayton said.

Tempe previously rescinded a controversial parks ordinance last year following public opposition.

Meeting dates and times for the new public meetings can be found on the city of Tempe’s website.
