WASHINGTON – The U.S. Marshals Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested Charles Rucker in Washington, D.C., July 11, 2025. Rucker was wanted in connection with the shooting death of 3-year-old Honesty Cheadle, who was struck by a stray bullet while sitting in a parked car with her family in Southeast D.C., July 5, 2025. A three-week U.S. Marshals Service operation has found dozens of missing Arizona kids — some of whom had been missing for months or years.

Marshal Van Bayless says Operation Desert Dawn focused on finding missing children who are especially vulnerable, including an 11-year-old.

“The 11-year-old, which was the youngest in this operation, was given some mental health and some crisis in our care afterwards. There is a history there of abuse and that's being investigated as well," said Bayless.

Bayless says some of the victims have been reunited with their families.

Phoenix and Glendale police departments participated in the effort. Several arrests have been made so far and more could be coming.
