The body of a missing Arizona State University student has been found on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon.
On Saturday, National Park Service crews recovered the body of 26-year-old Sandarsh Krishna near the Verkamp’s Visitor Center. Krishna was reported missing on April 28 — that same day, an unidentified person turned in his backpack to the park’s lost and found.
Because the exact location of where the bag was found was not logged, Krishna's family and NPS sought the public’s help to identify that individual in hopes of narrowing down the search area.
The person who found the backpack was never a suspect and is not believed to have played a role in Krishna’s disappearance.
The incident remains under investigation by the National Park Service and the Coconino County Medical Examiner’s Office.
