The chief of Buckeye police says one of his officers has been indicted on charges of aggravated assault.
In a statement, the chief said he asked the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office to do a criminal investigation of Officer Carri Carrico back in January.
The statement says Carrico was involved in two incidents with people in Buckeye police custody in which violence or physical force was used.
Now Carrico has been indicted on charges of aggravated assault by a grand jury, and has been put on unpaid leave while internal investigations are completed.
The chief is asking the public to not judge his department based on the actions of one individual.
