Police are continuing to investigate the death of a man with developmental disabilities who was found inside a vehicle parked outside a Mesa adult care facility.
Lorenzo Lopez, 36, was found inside a vehicle last week at ITC Personal In-Home Care facility, which also goes by the name Pathways for Life.
A company spokesperson said in a statement that the staff members in question have been placed on administrative leave while the investigation is ongoing.
The Department of Economic Security’s Division of Development Disabilities confirmed the facility is a qualified vendor that provides home- and community-based services and that the department ensures vendors required qualifications to support individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
“We are deeply saddened to learn about the passing of one of our members. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones. We are cooperating with authorities and the investigation that they’re conducting. The staff members in question have been placed on administrative leave while the investigation is ongoing. The safety and well-being of our members is our top priority and we are committed to understanding exactly what occurred," according to a statement from Pathways for Life.
