U.S. 60 east of Phoenix will be closed during the day for construction this week and next week.

The highway will be closed between the towns of Superior and Miami amid the ongoing Queen Creek bridge replacement project.

The first scheduled closure is from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, with tentative closures scheduled for Tuesday through Thursday next week.

Garin Groff is a spokesperson for the Arizona Department of Transportation.

“This is part of ADOT's ongoing project to replace the Queen Creek Bridge, as well as the Waterfall Canyon Bridge, both just east of Superior,” Groff said.

The detour adds 75 miles, routing drivers through Winkelman, or they should plan to travel before or after the closures.
