The arrests were part of a criminal investigation into an Aug. 5 traffic stop in South Phoenix.
Two Phoenix police officers are under criminal investigation stemming from a traffic stop about two weeks ago in South Phoenix.
Word of the incident came from community members.
Phoenix police have not identified the officers, nor the closest intersection to where the traffic stop took place.
A department spokesperson says the officers used force during the stop that happened around 11:30 p.m. Aug. 5, but they did not turn on their body cameras and did not report what happened to superiors.
The officers are now on paid leave while a special unit reviews their actions. Once it’s done, an internal review will launch.
Phoenix police say they’re committed to transparency, accountability and sharing more information as the investigation continues.
