The Jerome Police Department is asking the Town Council to consider installing security cameras at public safety facilities.
In a report to the Town Council, Deputy Police Chief Michael Odle says the cameras would be used for visual security and to help with criminal investigations and monitor for vandalism. He went on to state that in the past, two Jerome police vehicles were struck, and the driver failed to remain at the scene. One camera would be installed outside the police station with two more at the fire station.
The cameras do not appear to be tied to the controversial Flock camera program. Last week, the nearby city of Cottonwood announced it was suspending its contract with Flock.
