A now former leader in the Glendale Police Department has been arrested on suspicion of sex crimes in North Carolina.
Jay O’Neill was a Glendale police commander and one time agency spokesman. He no longer works for the city.
Court records from Jackson County in southwestern North Carolina say the 54-year-old O’Neill is accused of a half-dozen counts of sexually exploiting a minor last December.
Indictments filed Monday do not include a probable cause statement.
Local court records label O’Neill a fugitive of justice and say he was arrested Thursday after authorities initiated a warrant search on him.
Online records do not yet list an attorney representing O’Neill.
