Program director for KJZZ's SPOT 127 Youth Media Center

KJZZ's SPOT 127 Youth Media Center is looking for a candidate dedicated to helping high school students find their voices through digital media. The right candidate will re-invigorate the program and develop new strategic partnerships to enhance SPOT 127's offerings and enrich the learning experience. The successful candidate's goal will be to make SPOT 127 a sought-after resource for students and schools without access to digital media learning.
The role is responsible for planning, developing, and executing the operations of the youth digital media center (SPOT 127). Key responsibilities include building relationships with school administration to identify potential teacher and student participants. The position also involves collaborating with stakeholders to implement program improvements, financial support, and cultivating a successful, widely recognized program.
SPOT 127, a multi-award winning media center, empowers teens to find their voices and engage with their communities through photo, audio and video storytelling. We are an innovative educational outreach initiative that is a service of public radio, aimed at serving high-school students ages 14-18 in the metro Phoenix area. Our free in-school and afterschool programs along with our summer boot camps provide mentoring and instruction in multimedia production.

Essential functions
50% – Leads the SPOT 127 staff by developing and managing the digital media program, including creating and implementing guidelines and instructional principles to support effective program delivery and growth. Oversees team operations to ensure alignment with program objectives.
30% – Plans, organizes and establishes partnerships with school districts and community leaders to ensure program success and increase enrollment. Provides training and guidance in SPOT 127’s areas of expertise, including digital media and related disciplines.
20% – Engages with staff, Friends of Public Radio Arizona board members and other stakeholders to provide insights and updates on the SPOT 127 program. Represents SPOT 127 as a liaison at events and in interactions with donors.
Minimum qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in education, business or public administration, or directly related field and two years of related program management experience, preferably in an educational setting.

An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.

2. Two or more years of building partnerships across a variety of stakeholders.
3. Three or more years of experience teaching and leading youth programs.
4. Three or more years of experience in project planning, writing and organizational excellence.
5. Two or more years of digital and multimedia experience.
