June 22, 2025: The Bridge Creek Fire is 0% contained

Posted June 22, 2025 at 2:41 PM MST

The Bridge Creek Fire burning near the Utah-Arizona border has covered more than 1,000 acres of land and is zero percent contained.

The fire was first reported on June 13 near Navajo Mountain, according to the Bureau of Indian Affairs Wildland Fire Management - Navajo Region. Most of the resources assigned are aerial, due to steep and inaccessible terrain.

Helicopters and water scoopers are pulling water out of Lake Powell to try to limit its spread. Fire spokesman Noah Baker said they’re watching the Navajo Mountain community closely.

“We’re keeping that community in mind and we have a great plan for if the fire does stand up and move that way," Baker said. "We’ve got good places to fight fire in that path and then we also have a pretty good structure protection plan.”

So far, the community is not threatened by the blaze. Boaters are being asked to stay out of the area near the Rainbow Bridge National Monument to allow helicopters to do their work.
