Chances for showers and thunderstorms in the Phoenix area have improved for Friday and likely into Monday next week.
Chris Kuhlman with the National Weather Service in Phoenix says we may see rain as early as Thursday evening in the mountains.
"Typically in the Phoenix area it’s quite often we don’t really see much activity until, say, around July 4. So to actually have it June 20 or 21 is a little bit on the early side," said Kuhlman.
Kuhlman says because of the increased moisture, overnight lows are likely to hover around 90 degrees.
An excessive heat warning has been issued as well.
