Thursday was the first official day of summer and the hottest day of the year so far in the Valley, with a high of 115.
The National Weather Service in Phoenix says an excessive heat warning remains in effect through 8 p.m. Friday.
NWS forecaster Ryan Worley said Friday's high is expected to reach 114 degrees.
"We will see a slight cooldown as we head into the weekend," Worley said. "Highs, our forecast is for around 110 for Phoenix for Saturday and then actually dipping into around 107 for Sunday. Then as we head into next week, heat starts to come back with highs of 110 and above."
Worley says while rain is not likely in Phoenix on Friday, there are increased chances this weekend.
Increased moisture across the region has lead to a warm start for the Phoenix metro. The low temperature this morning at Sky Harbor was 92 degrees, 12 degrees above normal for this date.
