U.S. Border Patrol agents in southern Arizona found three migrants who died just outside of Ajo this week.
Border Patrol agents were alerted early Wednesday morning to a rescue beacon near the Sheep Peak area, just west of Ajo. An aircrew was able to locate one body initially, and shortly after noon, agents located two more bodies. Sheriff's Deputies transported the victims to Pima County Medical Examiners.
Five additional people were located and rescued, who were also assumed migrants.
Customs and Border Protection warned in a statement against using smuggling services to enter the country illegally. CBP said that along with the severe heat, the terrain by the border is extreme, and it can cause your life to be put in peril.
