Pima County Sheriff’s Department’s search for their K-9 officer was a successful one, finding the dog early Wednesday evening.
The golden retriever named Daemen was found in north Tucson, nearly 10 miles from where he disappeared in the south part of the city.
Pima County sheriff’s spokesman Keith Bee says the disappearance sparked an all-out search by police and residents, and a woman named Jennifer Bangs found the dog.
"We’re grateful to the community for all their help with this, and to our news agencies who were able to help get that word out, which is how they were able to recognize him," Bee said.
Bee says the dog is trained to sniff for drugs, and the Sheriff’s Department is continuing to investigate how the dog initially disappeared.
