Thursday was wet in some areas of southern Arizona, and the chances are high of that continuing into the weekend.
The bulk of the showers and storms will likely hit the south and east parts of Tucson, extending through Sunday, according to Glenn Laeder, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Tucson.
Although Tucson has seen triple-digit temperatures for the entire month of June, there's a potential escape from the heat.
"Top of Mt. Lemon looks really nice," Laeder said. "Temperatures in the low to mid-70s for daytime highs, although there are thunderstorm chances everyday up on the higher terrain."
Laeder also says there is a chance the streak of triple-digit days will break by the first of next week, due to the moisture and clouds.
Thunderstorms are developing across southeastern Arizona, including the Tucson metro area. Possible hazards include heavy rainfall, lightning, and isolated strong wind gusts. Exercise caution while traveling this afternoon and early this evening. pic.twitter.com/so1TFdvdT9
